A noticeable trend in the productivity space on Apple's App Store has been the emergence of habit-tracking apps. Habit tracking takes tasks a step beyond your basic todo lists and allows you to build any sort of recurring habit and simply track your progress of completion.
Personally, I track habits to write and set a specific workout schedule. To do this, I've been hooked on using Habit List.

My favorite feature is the ability to set a variety of schedules for your goals. You can set the frequency for every day, every 2-3 days, 3-5 days, non-specific days based on times per week plus many others. I use these for workouts so I don't get accustomed to a specific routine.
